British Fashion Design Alexander McQueen was recently found dead at the tender age of 40. During his prestigious career, he dressed the celebrities, including Sarah Jessica Parker of “Sex and the City” fame and was awarded “Fashion Designer of the Year” four times. He was known was pushing the edge of fashion with his innovative designs.
In addition to his strange and beautiful fashion sense, he was known as a risk-taker unlike any in the fashion industry. Back in 1998, Alexander McQueen boldly had a double amputee walk the runway with wooden legs.
Since his death, there has already been speculation that his work will rise in value. Alexander McQueen’s Director of Communications just communicated an important message regarding the recently deceased fashion designers work: please give it back. Speculators in the fashion design industry are looking to see which of Alexander McQueen’s collections will skyrocket. The sad truth is that the work of artists and writers is often more valuable after their death.
Another consideration regarding Alexander McQueen is who will replace him. As a designer known for unique designs and outrageous fashion shos, it is not easy to put someone else in his shoes. In an interview just last week, he said, “I’m 40 now. When I'm dead, hopefully this house will still be going.", which is eerie given the fact of his death.
His mother passed away last week and investigators haven’t ruled out suicide as a possibility.
